Quick answers

FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most about Querly: price, privacy, supported databases, undo, and more.

The basics

Is Querly free?

Yes. Free Querly has no time limit and includes every database engine. It allows 3 saved connections, 2 tabs, and 2 windows. A $29 one-time licence removes the limits. See Free and paid features.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-in and no cloud sync.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Querly goes online only for update checks, paid licence activation and periodic checks, and AI requests to the provider you chose. Database connections go straight to your servers.

Which databases can I use?

SQLite, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL (and compatible databases such as CockroachDB, Amazon Redshift, and Vertica), SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Redis. MongoDB and other NoSQL databases are not supported. DuckDB is planned but not available yet.

Does it run on Windows or Linux?

No. Querly is a native app for macOS 14 and later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Safety

Where are my passwords stored?

On your Mac only, encrypted. They are never included in exported connection files and never sent to QuietKit. See Credentials.

I ran an UPDATE or DELETE by mistake. Can I undo it?

With a licence, yes: click Undo in the result, or choose Edit → Undo Last Write (⌥⌘Z). Undo works for one UPDATE or DELETE on one table, up to 10,000 rows, within 72 hours by default. See Review and undo writes. Without a licence you still get the review, which shows the row count before the write runs.

What is the difference between Safe Mode and read-only mode?

Safe Mode shows the SQL of every change and lets you approve it. Read-only mode blocks changes completely. Use read-only mode when nobody should write.

Why can I not edit a table?

A table without a primary key is read-only, because Querly cannot be sure an edit targets exactly one row. Edit through a SQL query instead, or add a primary key in the table designer.

Moving in

Can I bring my connections from another app?

Yes. Import from TablePlus, DBeaver, Sequel Ace, Sequel Pro, Postico, or a Querly export. Saved passwords come along from DBeaver's credentials file and, with your permission, from the other apps' Keychain items. See Import connections.

Can I keep my keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Pick the VS Code, TablePlus, or JetBrains / DataGrip preset in Settings → Shortcuts.

Does it work with Docker and Laravel Sail?

Yes. Use the host 127.0.0.1 and the port Docker publishes. For Laravel projects, Querly reads the .env and fixes the host for Sail. See Laravel projects.

Updates and help

How do I update Querly?

Querly checks automatically and installs updates in the background. Choose Check Now… in Settings → General to check right away.

Something does not work. Where do I start?

Read Troubleshooting. If that does not solve it, copy diagnostics from Settings → Integrations and contact QuietKit.
